MAKING ALGORITHMS FUN

Ms Ho’s Year 9 Coding classes started off the term studying algorithms. This involved planning the logical steps for a range of daily activities.

The group were exploring the concepts of planning sequential steps and making logical decisions, which also contained looping within their algorithms.

We wanted to put practice into reality, so the students were tasked with planning the sequence of instructions and detailed steps to make a slice of Fairy Bread. Rather than follow their own instructions, each student was allocated a partner who had to follow the instructions exactly as given.

It was interesting to see how many were able to complete the task effectively and who struggled to create a slide of Fairy Bread because some steps were missing! Perhaps next year we will need to run some classes along with the Food Tech department!
