Year 12 Camp

Charlotte Glassel, Year 12

Following the Term 1 break, away from our hectic VCE schedules, the Kilvington Class of 2021 were treated to a four-day retreat at Camp Wilkin in Anglesea.

The week got off to a great start, with the entire cohort buzzing with excitement to experience the last camp trip of their high-school lives, being able to make those final, ever-lasting memories as a year-level (and at the prospect of having indoor accommodation and hot showers on camp for the first time since Year 9!)

Upon arrival, we were introduced to Sacha Kaluri – a motivational speaker who spoke to us about how beyond school we can create pathways based on passion, and that by doing so we were far more likely to succeed in our goals – a message that inspired many of us.

Throughout the week, we were given the opportunity to explore a variety of activities, such as surfing, canoeing, beach games, African-dancing and drumming, rock-climbing, and more, as well as a chance to participate in some teacher-led workshops to further explore our areas of interest and to get to know some of the Year 12 teaching staff in a different way.

Other highlights on camp included a viewing of the entertaining film Troy to complement our English studies, a revisit of the Careers Game, as well as the chance to partake in Mrs Cole’s World Famous Trivia Night (which lived up to be just as entertaining and engaging as it had been made out to be!)

Overall, I believe I speak on behalf of all this year's Year 12s, when I say that this was a trip that we will not be forgetting any time soon. We’d like to thank all the Kilvington and Camp Wilkin staff for making this experience the best it could have been.
