NEW - Year 5 Leadership Day
On Monday December 7 the Year Five students spent the day developing leadership skills. As the upcoming student leaders for 2021 our wondered focused around: How can I be an awesome leader?
As we took our time we appreciated that Good Leaders take time to reflect, pondering, ‘Who will they say I am? Based on the scripture text from Matthew’s Gospel (Mt 5:14-16)
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Our learning intention for the day was:
We are learning about what makes a good leader.
We will know we have been successful if we can:
Model good leadership,
Name our personal leadership qualities; and
Be the best leaders we can be
Throughout the day we broke open these ideals:
WHAT IS A GOOD LEADER?
- Good Leaders Listen and are prepared to learn
- Good leaders speak up
- Good leaders take risks
- Good Leaders bring out the best in others
- Good leaders have a purpose
- Good leaders are accountable
- Good leaders set goals and priorities
- Good Leaders Persist
It was a very successful day with Ms Hindson, Mr Cameron and Xavier (NDC House Captain 2021) sharing with us their thoughts and ideas about leadership.
These photos show us taking risks, being team players, cooperating and listening.
We look forward to the many opportunities 2021 will offer.

NEW - Foundation 2021 Orientation
Children were very excited coming to school for Orientation Day. They met their Buddies and had a play together on the playground. Children sang songs, listened to a story and made a crown. The Children will need to keep an eye on the letter box as we will send them a letter to say who is their pastoral care teacher, however both Ms O'Sullivan and Mrs Tartaglia will be sharing the teaching over the year and are looking forward to 2021!

Sacred Heart Parish Fete Update
The fete committee met last week to discuss the viability of a fete in 2021. It is with great regret that we decided that the event will not go ahead given the current uncertainty around COVID-19.
The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that volunteered and donated to the 2020 fete. As a result of the raffle we were able to distribute $2,000 to our school and another $2,000 to the parish. There are a number of non-perishable items left over from the 2020 fete. The committee will meet in early 2021 to discuss alternative fundraising ideas to utilise these items.
Again, we would like to thank you all for your contributions. We are proud of the community spirit at Sacred Heart and we look forward to 2021.
