Last Day of Term 4 Finishing Time TBC

Integrated Learning

This term our F1 students have been investigating how we are similar and different, through the curriculum lenses of Geography and Intercultural Capabilities. We began by exploring the different places our F1 teachers are connected to.

Y una chiva.
Y una chiva.

Luisa shared wonderful information about Colombia and the buses there called ‘chiva’. Jess explored landmarks, traditions and cuisine from India, while Angelica and Brenna kept it real in their home country Spain and Australia. Check out some awesome flamenco here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNhfV_53W7A

There were maps drawn of Italy, because everyone can see the boot! Mark zoomed in on a map to show where his father was born, a town coined ‘Fittolani Land’ by his family. Sergio took us to Tunisia in the north of Africa where students learnt the art of tea pouring, “shukrun habibi”.

Thank you for the wonderful family photos shared on Seesaw. Students enjoyed sharing and comparing how we are similar and different with images they could relate to. As we finish off the year we are looking back at our investigation questions and celebrating what we found out. To round out our unit of learning students will perform conversations between friends discussing our similarities and differences. Keep a look out for uploads to Seesaw in the last week of term. We will also be creating dioramas of our communities.

We ask that students bring in craft materials you might find in your recycling; cereal boxes, easy to cut plastics and any other items your child might like to use. We’ll do that rest at school.

Books Books Books

Home reader physical books will finish at the end of week 10. Please ensure any books under the bed, behind the fridge or beneath the couch cushions are returned. Bug Club (English) and Raz Kids (Spanish) is still be available, reach out to your child's home room teacher if you would like books allocated over the break.

Late library book return notices have been sent home this week. Please send these books back as soon as possible. David and his library team will close the Library this week for stock take. Thank you to those who have send their books back already.

Transition Day December 4th

2020 Foundation students will begin the day as usual and meet their new allocated teacher at the basketball court. The 2021 Foundation students will join us on the day, which we are very excited about.

2020 Grade 1 students will go directly with their bags to the Grade 2/3 quadrangle where they will meet their new allocated teacher and class peers. Students will be practicing this in the coming week to familiarise themselves with new processes and learning spaces.
