Library Books

The Library will be doing a stock take so there will be no more borrowing for the remainder of the school term. We ask that all library books are returned as soon as possible. They can be taken straight to the library or placed in the tubs in the classroom.

School Leader Speeches

This week the students had the opportunity to participate in the election process of our 2021 School Leaders. They listened to candidates speeches and participated in discussions about the characteristics of being a leader and the importance of choice. Students then used an Online system to make their votes.

Literacy

Over the past few weeks students have enjoyed following the writing process. This has allowed the students to continuously work on a writing piece of their choice and work through the different parts of the process. This has included: pre-writing (brainstorm), drafting, revising, editing and publishing. When it comes time to publish, students have been practising their typing skills by typing their final copy. They move their pegs as they work through the process. This allows students to take ownership and accountability for their work and also work at their own pace.

Inquiry

This term our Inquiry topic has focused on student interests. After many discussions on our passions and with some exploration of the topic Space, students came up with a burning question that they wanted to explore. We have followed the inquiry process and have used books and devices to complete research on different topics. Students are now beginning to develop ideas on how they would like to present their discoveries.

Some ideas include: making a model, poster, iMovie or Seesaw presentation.

Students will be working on their presentations for the remainder of the term. We have some resources available in the form of craft, however we encourage students to bring any materials from home they would like to include in their presentation.

If any materials are needed they will need to start being brought to school as as of next Monday 1st December.

Students will be presenting their final projects on Thursday 17th December between 2:30- 3:00. Families are welcome to attend school for the presentation, where they will be able to walk through the classroom to see the different projects on display. A form of live streaming will also be available (more information to come on Seesaw).
