Visual Arts and Photography

Year 7 Visual Arts students have explored Steampunk  and created their unique mechanical inspired sculptures using found objects and painting techniques such as dry brushing to create a metallic appearance in their contemporary work. Students have also begun exploring photography and a range of editing techniques to build on their compositions.

Year 8 Art students have been busy investigating Street Art this term. Students have created digital artworks based on the works of the Shepherd Fairy and created their collaborative Paste Ups after researching GhostPatrol and Miso. Students have enjoyed being able to include social and topical themes in their artmaking and were able to consider where they would exhibit their large scale artworks for maximum impact.

Year 9 Artmaking students have been participating in a series of workshops throughout the term. Students have experimented with watercolour techniques, the lino printing process and created their own earrings. Many students have undertaken personal interest projects developing skills in their selected mediums.

Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts and Photography students have been exploring and developing their body of work. This provides students with experience in developing ideas in their Visual Arts Process Diary, evaluation and engaging in critical discussion around how to improve their artmaking. Students have also explored modernist and contemporary artists along their journey. Students in Year 9 have also participated in small workshops exploring a range of artmaking, most notably their etchings based on still life objects.

Year 12 Visual Arts students are embarking on their HSC journey. They are developing and evolving their ideas as each student has begun to formulate their own artworks and experiment with a range of mediums. The students are also exploring the notion of social commentary in the artworld and discovering different ways artists have made important comment on political and social situations.
