Visual Art News

This term, Year 11 Visual Art students were fortunate to be able to work with multi-media artist, Jacqueline Scotcher as an introduction to Unit 3 – “Art as Knowledge”. Jacqueline presented an artist talk about her own art practice and finding inspiration from absorbing the sights, smells and sounds of the locations she visits, which she then translates into her artworks. The students spent some time experiencing the tranquillity of Enoggera Creek where they observed, gathered information and sketched the natural environment, after which they returned to the classroom and developed their ideas into multi-layered mixed media artworks. The artist talk and workshop will inform future artworks the students will develop as part of their body of work.

We would also like to congratulate Dylan Rabie in Year 10, who was the recipient of “Artwork of the Month” for his acrylic on canvas painting, based on the theme of “Youth Culture”.
