Reflection

For us Jesus is the human face of God. In a privileged way we encounter him in the three special Marist places, where Jesus reveals God to us.

At the Crib we find the innocence, simplicity, gentleness and even weakness of a God who is capable of touching the hardest of hearts. ...There is no room for fear of a God who became a child.

At the foot of the Cross, we are in awe of a God who loves us without reserve. We find a God who shares the physical and psychological suffering, betrayal, abandonment and violence experienced by humanity and transforms these experiences.

At the Altar, the Eucharist, we find a privileged place to enter into communion with the Body of Christ: to stand as one with all who are members and to deepen our relationship with the living presence of Jesus in our lives. (Extract from Water from the Rock. Marist Spirituality)

This Christmas time let us remember and enter the simple, unique and beautiful meeting place of the crib. The God of simplicity, gentleness, wonder and awe, that invites us to a rich and full life of love in him.

Many thanks to all members of the Marist Community who have contributed to the Mission work of the College in this 2020 year.

We look forward to a New Year full of the joy the infant Jesus can bring to each of us, with new life, new beginnings and renewed confidence in our world. Christmas blessings and peace.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

A heartfelt thank you to our students, parents, pastoral care group teachers, library staff and administration staff for your generous support of the St Vincent de Paul & MCA Christmas Hamper Appeal for 2020.  With the restrictions of Covid not allowing us to pursue the usual hamper appeal, the Marist community gave with us incredible generosity. We were able to raise more than $12,000.  This will enable vouchers to be provided for many in need for what we hope can be not only essentials but some Christmas cheer.

Chaplain’s Corner

Congratulations to all our graduates 2020!

We hope that you are really proud of yourselves and your accomplishments. You are graduating from high school and moving on from the place and people that have been so familiar to you into a new and exciting set of experiences.  The world is a big place and the future is uncertain. Whether you go to university or some other path, take your faith with you. We pray that God may give you a spirit of wisdom and enlighten the eyes of your mind so that you can see what hope his call holds for you.

Don’t lose sight of all the things that have made your life possible and beautiful, especially the great sacrifices your parents made to bring you to this moment. Be grateful, be thankful to God, to your parents, your siblings; your grandparents and friends – your teachers; all of whom took this journey with you in ways both seen and unseen.

We implore you, our graduates, to always see yourselves as good ambassadors of Christ and of this College and never allow selfish interest to blemish the integrity you have nurtured over the years in this great College.

Be kind and good to people you meet in your way. Allow the words of God to guide you as you journey to greatness. Go forth with God as your guide and your faith and hope and love as your path through life.

Mary, our Good Mother, pray for us.
St. Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.
St. Mary of the Cross, pray for us.
May we always remember to pray for one another.

Graduation Mass

At the Inaugural College Mass for 2020 the Senior students accepted the College Candle and pledged:

  • To show respect for all in the school community
  • To lead the College strongly and wholeheartedly
  • To bring the student body together as one, through encouraging students to participate in all aspects of College life.
  • To “act courageously” and generously, and inspired by the spirit of St Marcellin, to lead by example.
  • In all this we ask your help Lord Jesus, and the help of our Good Mother Mary, to be faithful to this pledge.

As they graduated, the Senior class of 2020 returned the College Candle and prayed these words:

Loving God, we stand before you confident and grateful, for all we have become during our journey at Marist College. You are with us through the hopes and fears, the joys and sorrows of our lives. Empower us to embrace and live the message of Jesus as echoed by the vision of Saint Marcellin Champagnat with Simplicity, Humility and Modesty. Help us to grow in faith and understanding of your word, your love and your call. Be with us as we go out and live your example in all we do. Fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit and help us experience your love in our lives. We ask this through Christ our Lord and Mary our Good Mother.  Amen.

We as a community offer them the very best of good wishes for the future and pray that their lives may unfold with peace, courage and compassion. They are a brotherhood of Marist with one wild and precious life to live.
