Message from 4/5/6 Team
We have started the year strong. Students working hard and learning many new concepts. We are so excited about what 2021 has to offer.
Reminder
- 4/5/6 students arrive and leave from McNamara Gate
- 4/5/6 students with younger siblings will go to their sibling and meet you with them.
- If you need to contact your child throughout the day for emergency reason please do so via the office and not thorough their portable devices.
- Devices are used as a learning tool in the 4/5/6 area and are needed every day. Please encourage your child to have their device charged and ready with their bag each morning.
Mathematics applied
We are very fortunate to be able to work with many tools in the 4/5/6 are that allow our students to see how Mathematics works in everyday life.
This week the 4/5/6s were fortunate to create figuras geometricas on Tinkercad.com. These creations allow them to use their knowledge of figuras geometricas to design great creations. The exciting part will be for them to explore using the new 3D printers we have.
Learn with your child the names for figuras geometricas in Spanish.
- Cubo = Cube
- Prisma Rectangular = Rectangular Prism
I wonder if they can teach you more shapes in Spanish?
You can see all of their amazing work on Seesaw.
Literatura
Students have been working hard coming up with different ideas in their Writers Notebook. These ideas can then be used for different genres. This Term there has been a focus on Persuasive/Narrativo Readings and Writings in Literacy.
You can see all their fantastic ideas on Seesaw.
Camp
Camp is fast approaching. Graeme has sent out information on what to bring via Sentral. Please message your homeroom teacher if you have not received this information.
However, one key information is we need all student to be at Newlands in their homeroom by 7:30 Monday 22nd of February.
Swimming
A reminder for all students to bring goggles for swimming and a bag for all wet items.
4/5/6 Clubs
The 4/5/6 clubs started this week and the students are loving it.
A timetable will be sent for your information soon.
