WOW! What a term so far! The Grade 2's have been so busy with their learning and enjoying the activities that are happening around the school.
During our literacy sessions the students have been learning to make connections when reading a text. We have been learning to make text to self, text to text and text to world connections and justify them. For writing we have been exploring Procedural Writing and the use of "Bossy Words/Imperative Verbs." We found this very funny as these words were "bossing" us around and manners were forgotten.
Tick Tock! Tick Tock! How time flies when you're having fun learning new numeracy skills. Throughout this term, we have been learning all about time. We have looked at the days of the week, months of the year and the seasons that correlate to the months and telling time on an analogue and digital clock. We enjoyed making and using our own clocks to help us tell the time. We have also continued to develop our understanding of place-value by participating in a mystery when several numbers 'disappeared' off of our number charts. We created 'WANTED' posters with heaps of information about those numbers in order to find them.
Inquiry, Wellbeing & The Hive
For Inquiry we are exploring "Our World." We will be investigating living things, what they need, their environment and the impact of change. We are also looking at the differences between living and non-living things. We commemorated ANZAC Day by investigating the history and significance of the day. Throughout the term, we have been practising mindfulness and the importance of looking after ourselves. We looked at different coping strategies to use when we are feeling anxious, and how we can help our friends when they are sad. Throughout the term we have been coding our Ozobots to follow a specific action in The Hive.
WHAT A FUN DAY WE HAD! On Wednesday 28th of April we participated in the Coach Approach Program. The Preps-2s worked in groups and rotated through activities. The activities we participated in were handball, hip-hop and taekwondo. It was very enjoyable and we would like to thank Mrs Wishart and Ms Wilson for organising this event.
