Classroom News

Grade 1 & 2

I can’t believe that we are at the end of Term 1. The students enjoyed Wellbeing Wednesday to stop, reflect and reset on the term that we have had.

Please enjoy reading what some of our students have enjoyed about their learning in Term 1.

Reading

Raphael - I enjoy recording his thinking with sticky notes because he could choose different strategies which made the book more exciting.

Weining – I loved learning about summarizing because it talks about the main ideas in a book. It helped me to read better because I could understand the story better.

Ella - I enjoy reading new books that I choose and harder books. I like making connections to my books and unpacking my connections.

Writing

Kiara enjoyed unpacking and thinking about her ideas to help write stories.

Sophia – I enjoyed going outside in the Grade 1 and 2 playground and seeing what I could see. This helped my writing because it was easier to get ideas because you could actually see what you were seeing and you didn’t have to imagine it. I also enjoyed publishing my first draft piece of writing.

Michael - I’ve enjoyed writing narratives and information reports. I like that I get to choose what I wrote about. My first story was called Sunshine Yellow Corn Go to the City!

Maths

Arren enjoyed solving maths problems like “Guess my number” because it was like cracking a code.

Khadijah – I have enjoyed learning how to skip count by 3s from all kinds of different numbers. I liked learning about bigger numbers like hundreds and thousands and making them with MAB blocks. It was cool to do 10 more and 10 less for lots of different numbers.

Gemma - I have enjoyed making numbers with MAB and learning about place value. I enjoy playing maths games with my maths buddy because she challenges me.
