School Photo Day - Did you place your Order?

Today the school participated in our annual School Photo Day.

Can I still order photos?

If you have missed pre-ordering before photo day, you can still order individual photos after photo day by clicking on the button below and enter the 9-digit school code below.

Orders can be made up to a week after the main day of photography, at regular pricing. After the week (15 May 2021), all orders will incur a late payment fee of $15.

Late orders may not always make the main delivery of all orders back to your school but will be delivered to your school as a separate delivery.

Or you can wait for the school photos to be delivered to the school, when your child will be given a "Urgent Action" / "Don't Miss Out" card that will have a picture of your child and a unique code to access your child's personal advancedyou online student site. This unique personal code can also be found on the back of packages you have purchased for your child in previous years.

To order click on the button below and use the following code:

The code to order is  LY9LKXN18

Toys At School

As per information in our School Handbook, it is recommended that students do not bring toys to school. Students have access to a range of playground equipment to use during break 1 and break 2.

When in the concrete area, students can play handball, skip or use our collection of outdoor games such as Jenga, Dominoes, Checkers, Can Toss and Quoits.

On the Basketball Court, students have the opportunity to play games with the basketballs, netballs and handballs.

On the Grass Area, students can access the climbing frames, tunnels or do some imaginative play in our pretend shop. Students can also use hula hoops, skipping ropes and foam balls for the Toss Towers. Structured games are also an option for students using the grass area such as parachute games and relays.

Kindergarten and Year 1 also have access to our exciting Adventure Playground including the use of the sandpits.

As you can see students have access to a multitude of playground equipment. Personal toys are best kept at home.

Ascent Tying Shoelaces Workshop

On Monday, St Joseph's was visited by a representative from 'Ascent Footwear', Australia's leading brand of School & Sport Footwear to facilitate a 'Tying Laces Workshop' for Kindergarten and Year 1. This workshop provided a fun, yet educational experience to teach the all important skill of tying laces. With the support of a step by step guide and laces with coloured bands the students did a great job. The students were very excited to receive their cool shoe pencil case. Hopefully they will get lots of practise at home and become extremely proficient in tying their laces. We thank Paul from The Athlete's Foot in Wollongong for facilitating these workshops.

Lost Property - Label, Label, Label everything

The school office has been receiving a lot of jumpers, jackets and hats with no names. Please ensure that your child's name is on ALL clothing so these can be returned to their rightful owners.  Any items that are not identified will be sent to the second-hand clothing pool.

We have also had a number of enquiries regarding missing items that have been labelled. Please check your child's clothing to ensure you have the correct items.

Home Reading

Home reading has commenced this term for Kinder - Year 6. Thank you to all students and parents who have again established positive routines to ensure home reading is being completed from Monday - Thursday, recorded each night and logs/diaries are returned to school on a Friday so teachers can monitor them and text selection.

For further information, please refer to the ‘Home Reading Parent Information’ that was previously sent home.

Did you know that researchers discovered that

reading for 20 minutes a day means a student will read about 1.8 million words a year?

This highlights the importance of daily reading, so your support is greatly appreciated and will benefit your child.
