Designing solutions to global challenges

We are very proud to have 2020 graduate Sam Sweatman selected for the fantastic Top Designs 2021 exhibition at Melbourne Museum. Top Designs showcases exceptional works from some of Victoria's most talented VCE students. Sam wanted to solve the problem of charging electric cars when the owner didn't have access to a garage or driveway. His product allows safe street car charging in a user friendly package inspired by the Tesla Cybertruck.

Designed during lockdown and produced entirely at home using found components, wood and 3D printed elements. This is a great example of what can be achieved by students in VCE Product Design and Technologies who are focused on tackling global problems and developing their preferred futures. Sam and his father are seeking a patent on his electric car charging solution and hoping to bring it to market. https://www.chargur.info/

Sam is also now studying Prosthetics and Orthotics at La Trobe University.
