Open Boys Douglas Shield Cricket - NSW Independent Schools Co-Winners!!
Due to wet weather and an unusable pitch, the Douglas Shield Grand Final match between The Riverina Anglican College and Calrossy (Tamworth) was, unfortunately, unable to be played. With the added inability to find an alternative location and date to reschedule the match (due to the restrictions of the competition as well as the two school locations being 720km apart!), both coaches agreed to take equal claim of the title, co-winners of the Douglas Shield for 2021. Congratulations to each player, from the first year rookie to the longstanding members. Playing in these competitions requires dedication to the sport as well as an ability to balance academic schedules and assessments. Thank you for your sporting service to College Cricket and although claiming a joint win may be bitter sweet, it should not take away the gallant effort the team took to get into the final in the first place. Congratulations and thank you to Mr Reynolds and Mr Glanvill for their years of service with this team and to the following players;

College Athletics Carnival
Wet weather prior to the event did not dampen our attempt to participate in the annual College Athletics Carnival. The weather conditions were actually optimal on Friday 19 March to run, jump and throw and our students took every opportunity to get involved and earn points for themselves as individuals as well as for their House group. At one stage there was concern that the carnival would not be finished in time as their was so much participation in both the field and track events but the cooperation of the students and efficiency of the staff at each event allowed us to finish the last relay with 30 seconds to spare before students had to board the busses back to school. Congratulations to the following students who achieved Age Champion and Runners Up for each age group:

College Colour Awards - Sport
Did you know that the College has a “Colours” system which acknowledges the contributions of students in the areas of Academic, Sport, Service and Cocurricular?
It aims to recognise excellence in an activity and the commitment to regular participation, practice and competition. I encourage all sporting members of the College community to head to the website and find the CoCurricular Tab where you can find information regarding College Colours. Take the time to read the descriptions of each colour to see if you qualify for that award. Application forms are located there as well, just fill in the details and the Representative Sports Coordinator or Sports Coach will read and sign your application. Hand in your signed application into the front office and the Colours Committee will assess your application.
