Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Dinner Dance

Last Friday's Family Disco was a snapshot into the culture of our school and an example of everything that makes Sacred Heart such a special community.

What a sensational night. Can I just say to each and every member of our Parents and Friend's Committee, you played an incredible role in last Friday night's success. To see children dancing with children, children dancing with mums and dads, dads dancing with dads (eg. Sunny and Gloyne), mums dancing with mums and mums and dads dancing together (eg. Cettina and Lino) it was so special. I am privileged to work with such a special caring community. Well done to all. To see Cettina and Prem smiling the whole night, Matthew’s sensational "Saturday Day Night Fever" type shirt, Mili's joy at winning a raffle prize and Austin joining into Angela's dance troupe performance late but with joy on his face, these were but a few of my many highlights of the night.

An ever grateful and extremely humbled Mark.

Can I thank:

  • Our Parents and Friends group: Jodi, Tissa, Sharon, Glenn, Agnes, Jeffrey, Cettina, Jina, Joane, Prem, Gauri, Palwasha, Merlyn, Amelia, Annemarie, Kanza and Monica
  • Geeta for organising our Dj Jai, who kept us dancing all night.
  • Amelia for passing on her wisdom and expertise about ticketing procedures to the new members of our Parents and Friend's Committee
  • Chun and Sally for your fish and chips initiative and kind donation
  • The generosity of the Kaszubski, Holo, Kagioglou, Hall and Santoso families with donations of items to be raffled and bid upon
  • Preston Council staff Robyn and Robert for your seamless cooperation and assistance both before the event and on the night
  • Staff Marty and Denise, and dad Jignesh for your assistance with arranging auction items
  • To all our families who donated items for classroom hampers
  • To all our families who attended the event

My philosophy with regards the rationale of a Parents and Friends Committee has been principally about community building and connection. However I need to acknowledge the magnificent amount of money raised last Friday ($4,366.50) which will go into the P and F account coffers and will be used to create and update important resources for our students, your children.

Finally Jai our Dj last Friday is available for all sorts of functions. His Instagram handle is:

Assembly Postponed

Today's planned whole school assembly has been postponed till next Thursday 17th November due to our Year Four students being on an excursion today.

New Electronic Security Door

Tomorrow a new electronic security system is going to be installed at the front entrance to our school building. This system will make our school a safer place for all, and reduce the chance  of unwanted persons entering our school. As of Friday, all parents will need to buzz through to the office to gain access. I am sure all parents and guardians will agree that any inconvenience caused will be a small price to pay for making our school a safer place for all.

Adventure Playground

I am currently negotiating with some companies who supply and install outdoor play equipment to install a new junior adventure playground and to perform some needed maintenance on the senior playground. I am anticipating that this work will be completed early next year. This work will be paid for by money raised through our Parents and Friends initiatives and profits from our school uniform shop.

Thank you Amelia

A big thank you to Amelia mum of Julian in Year Six, who as most of you will know is a very active parent within our school community.  Amelia's singing group ARCappella who use our multi purpose room on a Wednesday evening to practice, have donated an incredible $700 to our school. Amelia we are so grateful.

School Board

We have two positions on our School Board for 2023, with members Amelia and Geeta leaving our school community at the end of this year with their children transitioning to secondary school. If you are interested in becoming a board member and would like some information about the role, please contact me. We have our AGM on Tuesday 6th December. I will acknowledge the role of our Board and the contribution of leaving members in a newsletter after our AGM.

The last day for lunch orders from Parade College will be Friday 25th November. Lunch orders will resume again in 2023.
