Congratulations to our 2022 Year 7 students!
What a fantastic year we have had with our 2022 Year 7 cohort. It has been great to have a full year on campus where students have been able to make the most of the programs we have to offer. Camp has been a massive highlight where students had the opportunity to build relationships with students outside of their class group as well as getting to know other staff from around the college. Students had the opportunity to put themselves outside of their comfort zone where they were able to challenge themselves with the support to their peers. There are aspects of camp that the students will face in their every day life and we hope that this opportunity will support the students being comfortable in being uncomfortable, which was a message given by the camp coaches as a way to encourage growth. We have also revisited these camp groups to support their relationships leading into Year 8.
Starting transition to Year 8 we welcome some changes to our timetabling structure which may take some time to adjust to so please be aware of the bells to make sure you are able to get to class on time. We will be changing to the following session structure as of the 29th of November.
Session 1: 8.55 am – 9.52 am
Session 2: 10.00 am – 10.57am
Break 1: 10.57 am – 11.40 am
Session 3: 11.40 am – 12.37 pm
Session 4: 12.45 pm – 1.42 pm
Break 2: 1.42 pm – 2.15 pm
Session 5: 2.15 pm – 3.12 pm
Some final notes to our 2022 Year 7 students:
Please clean out your lockers and get rid of any food. Your sandwiches aren’t as appetizing in January, the year after you made them. The same can be said of your bags.
Thanks to all the staff that have supported the Year 7 cohort this year, they have had a positive impact on the cohort and helped give them a head start to the students high school education.
Be sure to put your best foot forward in Year 8 as you are no longer the small fish in the big pond. Also remember to support each other through the years to come to ensure your whole cohort can achieve their best.
Good luck!
Year 7 Hub Team
Year 7 Music Flash Mob!
On Wednesday 23rd November the Year 7 music classes did a flash mob at lunchtime in the Year 7 Hub. Classes from 7B, 7P, 7J and 7Q performed Smoke on The Water, 7 Nation Army, Heart and Soul and Year 7 Rock Out-an original by the band. Students performed on keyboard, guitar, bass, drums and percussion. The students were well received by the large audience of surprised staff and students.
This was a fitting way to end the Year 7 semester of work in Classroom Music. Well done to all who were involved.
Technology - Textiles
7K students finished their apron's in their Textile classes. Well done!
