Principal's Message

Good afternoon and welcome to the conclusion of week 8.

At the risk of talking weather - it's been awful! Cold, wet and windy… the combination of these conditions often making the students act 'a little different'.

I think it's fair to say there have been some challenges this week. Just the little niggling things - students arriving late to sessions and then wanting to argue the point when questioned. So lets all work together toward regaining structure and routine at school. Families can be a huge support to us by ensuring the same at home, even though we are definitely drawing closer to the end of the year – we still have 3 weeks to go.

And it should be an exciting 3 weeks – because as of today '2022 has finished' and 2023 begins! 😊

With Monday being a Staff Professional Practise day and no students required – TUESDAY 29th November will see all students 'rollover' into their new year level. They will have new classes, new lockers, a new area and generally 'new everything'.

It also signifies the start of our new timetable, which now has 5 sessions in a day of 57 minutes (it’s a long answer as why 57 and not 60) rather than 4 sessions per day of 72 minutes.

What’s really key for you to know is Session 1 starts at 8.55 am and the day concludes at 3.12 pm.

Last week it was fabulous to be a part of the Graduation ceremony for our Year 12 students. This was held at The Riviera Centre and it was a huge success! It was a collective opportunity for all to celebrate the students finishing 13 years of school and moving to the next chapter of their lives. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Speaking of Year 12 – our 'new' Year 12 students left Wednesday morning for a 3 day study camp at Lakewood Park.

Every day has a blend of study sessions and a bit of fun and being so close, the staff can travel back and forth to present their sessions pretty easily. The key functions of this study camp is to prepare the work expectations over the summer break and give the group a real opportunity to come together as a unit. Many of the 2022 Year 12 students at the graduation quoted the study camp as the “best time of Year 12”.

Coming soon is the College Presentation night (also at The Riviera Centre) where we celebrate at all year levels, the achievements of our students. So lock in Thursday the 15th December – keep your eye on our Facebook page/newsletter for further details.

The new buildings continue to 'grow' and I am reassured that they will be ready to go – first day next year! Yippy!

Thanks for sharing your children with us!

Always happy to chat …… chat again in week 10 – last newsletter for the year.
