Term 4 Killester Chess Tournament

What an exciting end to the Term 4 Killester Chess Tournament for 2023! After 5 exciting weeks of knockout rounds, our reigning champion Rhea Fernandez has passed on her title to a new student. The Grand Final came down to two students -Victoria Tang of Year 7 and Sophie Tran of Year 8. In the most nail biting match we have ever seen all year, and with the clock ticking down to 23 seconds left to go - we are proud to announce that Sophie Tran of Year 8 is our new Killester champion! Congratulations to both girls, as this truly was the closest match of the year. Sophie was awarded her golden chess pawn badge to wear on her uniform with pride.

As for our teachers tournament - this was also a fantastic competition this term, with many teachers giving up their time to play against each other and provide a little friendly rivalry along the way. Our two Grand Finalists were Mr Vi Lam and Ms Kimberly Nguyen. In a fun and very close "best of 3' finale - Mr Lam was our Term 4 Teacher champion! Congratulations Mr Lam.

Now to play off our Students VS Teachers match next week! Who will be crowned our ultimate champion? Will Sophie have her badge upgraded to Queen status? Can the students beat the teachers again for the 4th time in a row??????
