Messages from the Front Office

Successful Student Awards

At our last assembly on Friday 28 October we had presentations for successful Student Awards.  Their smiling, proud faces are below.  Congratulations to you all.

Peter Combe Incursion

As you know, Peter Combe (children's entertainer) will be coming to MPS for an incursion on Monday 21 November. Permission slips and payment of the $8.80 is now due. Please return permissions slips as soon as possible. If your child has a credit from amended swimming lessons, you can write 'Apply swimming credit' in the payment sections.

Message from Phil Nelson (former teacher)

Students, ex students, staff and members of the community of MPS,

I would like to take this opportunity to state my sincere appreciation for all the kind spoken and written contacts that I received after my accident in Canada in 2019. I would also like to say how much my family and I acknowledged the generosity that many people displayed, making contributions to the Go Fund Me account that was set up on my behalf. We all recognised the effort that people made to assist us through challenging times.

You may think that it has taken me some time to relearn the basic skills to enable me to achieve tasks such as this successfully, which is an on going challenge. I am told that I have made visible improvements in many areas, which I still work on, on a daily basis.

That is why I think that the time is appropriate to wish all the students, ex students, staff and the local community, happy christmas and a prosperous new year or have a magnificent summer holiday.

Thank you all once again for all your contributions to my well being.

Phil Nelson

Library

Last week of student borrowing will be week 7. Please ensure all outstanding books are returned to the library for the end of year stock take.

If there are any year 6’s that would like to donate their old library bag to the school, I would be very grateful to keep as spares in the library.

NO HAT NO PLAY - Sunsmart School

As the weather starts to improve the UV rating will start to climb and it is so important that students come to school every day with a broad brim hat. We are a sun smart school, which means that we raise awareness of the risks of over-exposure to the sun and promote safe practices. This means children must wear a hat to play outdoors. Students that don't have a hat can only play in undercover areas.

The school no longer has spare hats as they have been loaned and not returned. We undertand that hats get left at home from time to time, but to avoid disappointment, please ensure that your child has packed a clearly labelled hat in their bag each day.

RAT TESTS

The Education Department has provided additional RAT tests for distribution to the school community. There is one box allocated per student, so if you have not yet collected RAT tests this term and need some please come to the Front office.

Phasing out cash payments

For various operational reasons, including the closure of local Bank branches, we have decided to phase out the acceptance of cash for school fees and excursions throughout the remainder of this year. We request that, where possible, all families make payments by direct deposit to the school bank account or through EFTPOS in the front office.

Reminder: If you are making direct deposits to the school account, can you please ensure that you provide a reference that includes the CHILD'S NAME AND YEAR GROUP to allow for timely processing.
