Who's Who in the Primary?

Branna Magill

Several years back I was completing my Bachelor of Arts degree, and gained employment in the Office at Lenah Valley Primary. While working there, I quickly fell in love with the vibrant school atmosphere. This led me to pursue post-grad study (Master of Teaching), so that I could transition from office to classroom. I graduated my Masters at the end of last year, and have worked at numerous public and private schools as a relief teacher this year.

As you may know, I have also worked as the Uniform Shop Coordinator at Mount Carmel for the past few years and was so excited to be offered a part-time teaching position here, at a wonderful school I know so well.

A mix of laying around with my dog, getting out in nature, and playing sport/exercising.

When was the last time you smiled or had a big belly laugh?

I have very funny friends, so probably the last time I got a message.

Getting to know my students!!

Kate Murphy

My name is Kate Murphy and I have been teaching since 2006. I have always had a passion for working with children, inspiring learning and having fun. Nothing beats seeing my students' smiling faces every day. What a great reason to come to work!

I am passionate about helping all the students I teach, catering for different learning styles and abilities.  My passion recently has been supporting those who find Literacy challenging, focusing on skill development for reading, writing and spelling. Teaching is the best job; no two days are alike. You need to be flexible and have a good sense of humour - I love that about my job.

What is your favourite colour?

Turquoise

What is your favourite movie/song/book?

It is so hard to decide on my favourite movie, so I always pick an animation.  My all-time favourite is The Little Mermaid, but my 3 year old loves Enchanto, so that's in my Top 5 at the moment too.

Are you a sweet tooth or a savoury person?

Sweet tooth.

How do you relax and unwind?

I like to spend time outdoors with my family, sailing, bike riding, or at the beach.

When was the last time you smiled or had a big belly laugh?

I smile every day, there is so much in the world to smile about. The last belly laugh would have been with my 8 year old about something silly, I can't even remember what, probably a bad joke.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

Getting to know the students in 6 Navy while I am here for Term 4.

What quote, line from a song or motto sums you up?

I'm an eternal optimist. I will always find a positive spin on a situation.
