VET ACTING STUDENTS
Congratulations to all the VET Acting (Screen) students who had their final presentation and graduation on Wednesday 26 October.
Well done to all involved!
YEAR 12 EXAMS
The exam period went off without a hitch. Students were well prepared and focused, with many of our students coming in to see teachers and complete practice exams in the weeks leading up to their exams.
The examiners congratulated them on their exemplary conduct. Well done to all of our students on showing great commitment and calm at this stressful time.
As a wonderful gesture of community spirit, the local Bunnings store donated a native plant to each of our Year 12 students with a note of congratulations attached.
Thanks so much to Bunnings for this thoughtful commemoration, hopefully these plants will be a lovely reminder over many years of their time at LHS.
STEP UP PROGRAM
In the coming 2 weeks, our VCE students will begin their 2023 subjects in our ‘Step Up’ Program. This is an important time for our students and teachers to get to know each other and prepare for the coming year.
Students are not expected to have all of their resources at this time, but it would be great if the Year 12 English students could have their novel Nine Days. All students will need to be coming with writing resources.
YEAR 12 RETREAT
Year 11 students moving into Year 12 have just returned from a 3 day retreat to Grantville Lodge. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to get to know each other and build some relationships with students and staff which will see them through their Year 12 journey.
Smiling faces and words of encouragement were evident across the 3 days, and as a staff member it was wonderful to see only the best side of all students, who were beautifully behaved.
Highlights for the camp included: delicious 3 course meals, challenges and thrills on the high ropes and giant swing, students (and staff) joining in impromptu sporting activities and games in their spare time, an amazing karaoke session which almost brought the roof down (thanks Mr Beatson), followed by an equally amazing trivia contest with all 9 teams only separated by 10 points (thanks Ms Hankin), lots of laughs over Theatre Sports (thanks Mr Bleakley), and a thought provoking Careers session (thanks Ms Mays and Mr Kogelman), to name just a few.
A special thanks goes to Mr Huby who joined the Senior School Coordination team mid-year and has since proven himself to be indispensable. Mr Huby was the main organiser of the camp with a lot of help from Mr Beatson, and the way the camp ran so seamlessly was thanks to these two.
A final thank you to Ms Redgewell, our part time VCE Coordinator, and Jenny McLean our amazing Office Assistant who is one of the most valuable members of our staff, also gave up their own time and participated enthusiastically to make this such a memorable experience.
