REMEMBRANCE DAY
Friday 11 November, 2022
The school gathered together (Years 7 to 10) to pay our respects to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country, those who returned home injured or ill, and those who bravely serve our country today.
The assembly began with Georgia Gow (Year 7) reading the Acknowledgment to Country and explaining the importance of Remembrance Day followed by a minute’s silence.
Oscar Geddes (Year 11, Cadet Sergeant 31 ACU 2PLT) spoke about how he became involved in the Army Cadets, what it involves and the significance of Remembrance Day.
Jack, Kane and Liam from 7A read the poem 'In Flanders Field'.
Max Caulfield, Tristan Dent, Emily Geerling, Ayla Harnett, Jett James, Kai Raiteri, Noah Vincent (Year 10), Cooper Steinfort and Taylah Mae Gundry (Year 9) performed ‘I am Australian’ and Vance Joy’s ‘Fire and the Flood’.
Lest we forget.
LHS students attended the Lilydale RSL Remembrance Day service at the Lilydale Cenotaph.
Thankfully, the rain held off and we were able to join in the commemorations.
Olivia Bradshaw (Year 10) shone as she read the poem “In Flanders Fields” and York Newell (Year 7) presented a wreath on behalf of LHS.
All students should be commended for the way they represented the school.
