COLLEGE INFORMATION
SCHOOL COUNCIL
Hi I’d like to introduce myself I’m Stephen Baker this year’s President of the MESC School Council. School Council is an important part of the governance of the school and its functions are enshrined in legislation. Council’s principal tasks are management and oversight of the budget, school facilities and other policies that affect the college. The council is not involved in the delivery of education and or management of staff but reviews performance and assists in planning the strategic plan which is critical for the future direction of the college. The council reviews the activities of subcommittees such as finance and building and grounds. We are there to represent the school community and we welcome any feedback or suggestions on college policies; as such I can be contacted on Stephen.Baker3@education.vic.gov.au or you can pass any messages on to the college’s administration team and they will pass them on.
We have had representations from both the school and wider communities that there are people that would love to assist the college in various ways; such an opportunity exists and the best mechanism would be the formation of a Parent and Friends club. To form such a club would involve several interested parents attending a meeting for that purpose, to facilitate this we will be calling a meeting early next term so please keep a look out.
