Year 8 Residential Program

Pictured: Staying Warm in Toolangi

Reflection

Camp was one of the most amazing experiences of Year 8. While it was absolutely freezing cold and most of my clothes got wet, it was also full of laughter, fun and memories. The activities included abseiling, rock climbing, crate stack, canoeing, flying fox, bush cooking and climbing tower. Highlights for me at camp were when Nathan accidentally ate a stick during bush cooking while trying his damper #stamper and everyone cheering on Abyaz as he made it to the top of the climbing wall. I also enjoyed the crate stacking activity when we came up with our team’s name, The Flying Monkeys (personally, I think it should have been The Highfliers).

What I took from the experiences at camp was to give everything a go; even if it is freezing cold, your socks are wet, and your toes are numb. Because your team will always have your back. They will support you the whole way and at the end, you’ll feel good knowing you pushed yourself to go outside your comfort zone.

I would also like to express my thanks to the teachers that came along on camp: Mr Owens, Ms Holden, Ms Gavillucci, Mr Hellard, Ms Ohlert, Mr Jenkin, Mr Do, Mrs O’Hanlon and Mr Lees. Thanks for standing in the rain, wind and cold while you watched us do the activities and congrats if you went on them too, I hope you enjoyed camp as much as I did.
