Seeing god in all things

“An elderly man was staring at the bottom of a well.
‘What are you doing?’ a young child asked.
‘Looking at God’
‘Can I have a look?’
The man lifted the child so that he could gaze into the well.
‘I can only see myself’.
‘Exactly’ responded the man”.

Currently we are privileged to have Redemptorist Priests celebrating our regular College Eucharist on Friday mornings and Fr Tim Tapoona told this lovely story to explain the message of the Trinity. The unity of Father, Son and Spirit is strongly expressed in the Gospel of John where all that the Father has is also the Son’s, and whatever the Spirit speaks to the Church is an expression of what comes from the Father and the Son.

In the past week our Primary school has conducted its first assemblies for the year. It has been fantastic to have our community coming together to pray and celebrate the wonderful work of our students. Saying the College prayer at the beginning of the assemblies reinforces our message as being firstly a Catholic school but secondly immersed in the beautiful Ignatian tradition inherited from the Jesuit and Loreto Religious Orders.

There is mystery surrounding our Faith but ‘seeing God in all things’ is an important message for our students, staff and wider community as we celebrate in quick succession the Feasts of the Ascension, Pentecost and Trinity Sunday.
