YEAR 1/2 CHESTERFIELD FARM

By Tahlie Edwards (Year 1 Teacher)

Before the holidays, our Year 1s and 2s had their first excursion for 2022 to Chesterfield Farm. In our class groups, we enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the day, such as the animal feeding trail, cow milking show, tractor ride, the nursery, and most students’ highlight – the Sheepdog Show!

We were so proud of everyone’s efforts to pay attention and show respect to our wonderful Farmers who showed us around each activity. Below are a few reflections, written by our students for you to enjoy:

On Thursday, me and my class and the other Year 1 and Year 2s went to Chesterfield farm. We went into the bus to get there. When we got there, we saw Sam our leader. First, we went to do a morning feed. I fed a deer, goats and a kangaroo. Next, we went to the cow show and saw 2 cows getting milked. Last, we went on a tractor ride. I had a great day!! (Nadia H)

On our excursion to Chesterfield farm, we went to see the goose, emu and the goats. When I fed the goose, it ate a lot. Next, we fed the bulls. When I fed the bull, it bit my knuckles. When we fed the ostrich, it grabbed the bag of food and dropped it on the other side of the fence. Later we went to the nursery. I patted the guinea pig, then I looked at the blue tongue lizard. Last we went to the dog show. It was amazing! Scout jumped onto the sheep’s back. Last we went to the chicken and they pecked the grass out of my hand. Then we went on the bus back to school. (Tristan B)

On Thursday, the Year 1s and 2s went to Chesterfield farm. First, we went to the toilet. Next, we got our bags of food to feed the animals from our tour guide Sam. We fed the goats, but one of the goats got Ollie’s bag. And two minutes later one of the goats at my bag. But I was still happy. We also got to see a joey. Last we went on the tractor ride. YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE

By Chauntelle Wolfaardt (Careers Advisor)

In the last week of Term 2, our Year 10's had their work experience week. They made all of their own arrangements and the feedback that we received from the employers exceeded all expectations.

Some students learned that they do not want to work in certain environments but they still pushed through the week and took home a valuable experience, where others realised that is exactly what they want to do in the future.

Some were challenged to step out and give presentations, others stole the hearts of customers and some even received future job offers.

Work Experience week for our Year 10's was a huge success and the students went above and beyond all expectations. Well done Year 10's! We are so proud of you. Thank you for doing your best, you demonstrated how to be true ambassadors! Thank you parents for all your support!
