Impossibility is Only Someone's Opinion

BY LANCE DAVIDSON (DEPUTY PRINCIPAL)

I heard this statement just a few days ago when listening to the story of Daniel Flynn, the founder of ‘Thank You’ water. He overcame many obstacles to fulfil a dream to see water made more accessible to those in third world countries. Knock backs from companies, over and over again, he was told that his idea was not possible. And yet, despite feeling like a failure at times, he kept persisting, thinking, but ‘What if, what if it could work?’

Daniel was not willing to accept the opinion of others, that what he believed was possible, was impossible. Daniel was not willing to give up on a dream that he believed was within his grasp. Eventually he (& some others) found a way to not only make water available to those who needed it most, but also to make a difference in health and sanitation and food programs where they were needed.

You can listen to more of his story here

We live in a world where we are more often told that we can’t do something, than we are told we can do something. Those dreams that we might have to make a difference, may seem too big, too out of reach or too silly, but with the right support, encouragement and backing may actually be achievable. It does however, often require persistence and determination to achieve them, and sometimes failure at the first, second, third … attempt.

Daniel Flynn is a man of faith, and his dream was something that came out of a heart that wanted to make the lives of others better, a heart that God was at work in. I believe that Daniel’s dream was something that God birthed in his heart, and this made the impossible possible when it came to successfully getting Thank You water off the ground.

At Belgrave Heights, we want to encourage our students to dream big, particularly when it comes to making a difference to the lives of those around them, and changing lives for the better. At Belgrave Heights we want to share stories with our students of men and women (our teachers included) whose lives have been impacted by their relationship with God, and whose dreams have become a reality, even when it has seemed like they were impossible.

Matthew 19:26 “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
