To celebrate the end of term, tomorrow Friday 24th June will be a casual dress day. A reminder that school will also finish at the earlier time of 2.20pm.
Thank you to everyone for their support with Friday’s dress up day. It was great to see the students enjoying the opportunity to dress up and having fun with their costumes. A total of $180.10 was raised towards caring for our vulnerable koala population, which is also a great outcome.
Our thanks also to everyone who came along on Wednesday to support our Choir and the 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 4/5 classes as they presented a performance of their musical achievements. This was another wonderful performance and we really appreciate Emily’s work in providing students with this opportunity.
Netball clinics finished last week and Lunchtime Netball also finished this week. A big thank you to Kathryn who has spent her lunchtimes running netball activities and games, while also coaching students in the skill of umpiring.
Monday’s NAIDOC activities were a great celebration of Aboriginal culture. Over the day, students enjoyed participating in mixed ages, to explore a range of activities including shelter building, indigenous games, art and cooking. Many thanks to Mel and Koorie Education Support Officer, Rosie, for their facilitation of this event, and to all staff for their contribution to making this a great day of activities.
During the holidays, we will have a range of building works happening in the school, including works to upgrade our ramps to improve accessibility to our buildings. For families attending OSHC, please note that this will mean that access to the building will limited during this time, with children and families needing to enter the building via the rear of the school. As much of this work is weather dependent, it is likely that some of these works will be continuing when school returns in term 3.
On Friday 15th July, students in Years 4-6 will attend the Wodonga Winter Sports Carnival in Wodonga. Please complete event approval on Compass by the start of Term 3.
As another term draws to a close, I would like to extend a big thank you to our many volunteers, for their ongoing support. Thank you to all those parents who have given their time to assist in the classroom and to the many Red Cross volunteers who have assisted with our Breakfast Program. Thank you also to the Neighbourhood Centre for their ongoing support with our canteen services and to the Upper Kiewa Valley Uniting Church Op Shop, who this week donated $800 towards the purchase of new equipment for our canteen. We really appreciate the support of our local community!
I would also like to extend a big thank you to all our staff for their ongoing dedication to student learning as well as their collegiality and flexibility, which has enabled us to maintain continuity of learning amidst the ongoing challenges of staffing shortages. I have no doubt that, like the students, they are all in need of a well-earned break!
On behalf of us all, I hope you all enjoy a very happy term break. Stay warm, enjoy the snow and we look forward to seeing you soon!
