Term 2 Week 4

So far this term has been very rewarding as I have met many friendly new faces as well as those familiar ones! It has been fantastic to see students of all ages demonstrating a keen desire to read and share their reading interests with me over the last few weeks. I look forward to being part of your child’s reading journey at Lockleys North and encourage them with an excitement for literature.

In only a short amount of time it has become very clear that some of the most popular books within Tirkandi have been the Junior Fiction Series Boxes. During class borrowing time, children have continually displayed great enthusiasm in this area as they enjoy getting through their favourite series. Most of the time some of these boxes can look quite empty which is excellent because it shows there is a love and enjoyment of reading happening! Through discussion with the children I can see eyes light up with joy when talking about their reading interests, and I hope to further fuel this passion by providing exciting resources and directing or guiding their reading journeys at Lockleys North.

It is great to observe such joy over children’s literature through both the children themselves and families that join in on our school’s library community.

Please feel welcome to visit Tirkandi and say hello before school on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, or after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I am happy to assist with any library matters and look forward to continuing to build relationships with both students and families.
