Out Of School Hours Care

OSHC News

My Time Our Place:

During week 3 and 4 the service has seen the children participate in a variety of spontaneous and planned activities both inside and outside. Inside the children enjoyed creating secret messages to each other by creating their own code and deciphering it. The children also had fun creating and colouring their own bookmarks that they decorated with stickers, feathers and googly eyes.

Outside, the children have been enjoying working in the OSHC garden by watering and picking some of the veggies. The children enjoy connecting to their surroundings and often engage in conversations in relation to produce, planting and fruit and veg they enjoy. Our educators aim to encourage the children to participate in outdoor activities to build on their fine and large motor skills as well as connecting to a natural environment.

Active After School:

If our Educators have not been notified by parents/caregivers that their children are participating in active after school they will be unable to leave the service.

If your child is going to attend an after school activity please notify the service in advance. If your child/ren are booked in for that day and do not come to the OSHC service prior to their after school activity the service will follow our protocol of contacting parents, if parents cannot be contacted the police will be called.

Electronic Sign In:

The OSHC service will now be using the Spike App on an iPad to sign children in and out of the service which is located in the OSHC room. Parents/guardians or caregivers will only be provided with a code if they are written on the child’s collection authority form.

Please see an educator to receive your individual and unique sign-in code or if you need any help navigating the app.

Paperless Service:

The service strives to continually improve and has decided to reduce the amount of paper used. This means that  there will be changes to signing in and out children and all invoices will be received via email. It is imperative that all parents fill out and return a form with their updated email addresses and contact numbers in order to complete this transition. Forms will be available from the OSHC room and will be sent via email and post to all parents. We are endeavouring to have all online communications ready by Term 2. During the transition process paper copies will still be available from the OSHC room.

Medications:

If your child requires medication please ensure that you have provided an action plan as well as the medication (asthma pump, epipen etc.) to the service. It is vital that we have access to your child’s medication at our service whilst your child is attending.

Hats:

As part of our sun safety policy children will not be required to wear a hat as of Term 2, this is due to entering the colder months. Children may still wear a hat if preferred.

Absentees:

A reminder to all parents and caregivers to contact the service on 8443 5308 if their child(ren) are no longer attending their sessions or have been collected early from school.

Dietary Requirements:

At our service we aim to cater to children’s needs as much as possible, however, if your child has specific dietary requirements or does not like the food programmed for the day please pack an alternative snack or drop off food alternatives at the service.

Thank you
