LNPS Soccer 2019

North West Junior Soccer Association (School Soccer)

Lockleys North Primary School students have shown that soccer is alive and kicking (no pun intended). As a school we are currently represented by 8 teams in the North West Junior Soccer program:

  • Under 6 White
  • Under 6 Blue
  • Under 6 Red
  • Under 7 Blue
  • Under 7 White
  • Under 8
  • Under 9
  • Under 10

The North West Junior Soccer Association runs this program designed for children from as young as six years of age through to senior primary school students enabling them to learn about the sport, build confidence in the game, and have fun. Teams competing in the under 6 through to under 10 age category play only for the fun of the sport, and to teach the players about sportsmanship.

The association only has competition games for the Under 11 and senior teams. Whilst we don’t have a senior’s team at Lockleys North, three senior students (Beau C, Dante M and Andrej L) have joined forces with Fulham North Primary and North Haven Primary School to form a senior’s team and compete in this age category. The boys have had the opportunity to meet new people and have made some new friends. What a great way to build resilience and develop strong social skills, well done boys!

Results from the combined Lockleys North, Fulham North and North Haven senior primary school team are:

  • Week 1 the boys played against Henley Beach Primary School, they played well as a team but didn’t take enough chances losing 2-0.
  • Week 2 they played very well going behind early but equalising quickly. The team had no subs and the team were overrun in the 2nd half losing 5-1.

All players from the senior’s team are having fun and getting along.

Coaches of the teams have reported a fantastic effort from all teams, with all players playing exceptionally well together demonstrating teamwork and enthusiasm. Welcome to all receptions and their families, and also to new players participating in school soccer. It is looking to be a fun season ahead and I look forward to reporting on the highlights throughout the season.
