Looking Ahead

While many will feel as if we’ve only just settled into Term 3, 2022, we are already busy looking ahead to 2023. Earlier this week we had the opportunity to support our Year 10 students and their families through Course Counselling, Year 11 students with their Year 12 subject selections and Year 12 students with their VTAC applications.

Course Counselling

Thank you to all students and their families who participated in our information sessions and subject selection days. Each day was well attended, with many students making the most of the opportunity to develop their understanding of their 2023 program choices, the VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education), VCE VM (Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major) and the VPC (Victorian Pathways Certificate).

Students and their families also met with subject teachers to gain insights into subject curriculum, reporting and assessment in preparation for the subject selections for 2023. Year 10 students were further supported with their subject selections through Course Counselling. During this process, students met with teachers to discuss their program selection, subject choices and career considerations. Students have until Friday 12th August to confirm their 2023 selections.

Year 12 VTAC Applications

Many of our Year 12 students are currently completing their VTAC applications. VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) administers the application process for 2023 tertiary institutions, with applications currently open and closing on 29th September 2022.

The VTAC course application allows students to apply for up to eight courses in order of preference, however they can only receive one offer in each ‘offer round’.

Before they begin their application, students should make sure they:

  • meet the entrance requirements for each course they want to apply for, and
  • have all their details close to hand. For example, details about their educational history, student numbers, any required visa details.

It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that they complete their application accurately, answer all relevant questions and provide the required information. If students provide incorrect information or omit information such as current and previous studies, they may jeopardise their chance of receiving offers, or any offers they receive may be withdrawn.

Although students can’t save a draft while working on their course application, they are able to change their course preferences after it is completed.

Meet & Connect

Meet & Connect is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 30th August 4:00pm – 7:00pm and Thursday 1st September 10:00am – 2:00pm.

The event will provide an important opportunity for students and their families to meet with subject teachers and discuss student progress throughout the last semester of their studies. Meet & Connect will also provide an opportunity for students and families to consider recommendations from subject teachers in preparation for 2023.

The College will also provide opportunities for students and families to participate in presentations from other organisations on education, mental health and working with young people, as well as view student performances.

Term 3 Professional Practice Day

Please note as per Term 2, all teachers will be having their Professional Practice Day on the same day this term. The date set for this is Friday 12th August. This will be a class free day for all students. However, the Unit 4 Further Maths SAC is being held from 9am - 11am. All students undertaking Further Maths are expected to attend.

A view from a hotel in Himare, Albania that one of our Assistant Principals, Reardo Luka, stayed with his family in during his long service leave. Happy thoughts!
