Going Green
From the Marine Ambassadors
Hi there, we are your 2022 Marine Ambassadors Jack S, Olly C, Neha K and Lili H. We are excited to announce that we are starting up our very own newsletter page named Going Green.
As Marine Ambassadors, we help to run all Green Warrior meetings. (These occur around 3-4 times a term). Sometimes we are lucky enough to be able to talk at assembly and every term we get to go on an excursion and learn about marine life and the environment.
Earlier in the year, we went to Sorrento to swim with dolphins and seals which was a great experience and we also learnt more about Port Phillip Bay. Below are pictures of the seals that we saw in the bay.
Recently we went to Mt.Eliza PS to do a learning workshop where we learnt about the local marine life and how to teach others about it. For example, we went to all the year 2 classrooms and taught them about marine life in Port Phillip Bay. We did this with a series of fun activities for the young ones.
We also hosted a poster competition for the entire school to make a poster about why we should have nude food at H.P.S. So next time you are packing or watching your children pack their lunch boxes, make sure they don’t have any rubbish and if they do, tell them not to take it outside and to bring it home. The poster competition winners were Alice L and Audrey R. We also had one anonymous winner, congratulations to all. Copies of these are displayed in all classrooms.
