Q and A - ABC

On the 19th of May, myself and a group of other year 12 students studying VCE Global Politics watched the ABC political program ‘Q & A’ live in the audience just days before the 2022 Federal Election. The episode, titled ‘The Final Election Countdown’, included a politically diverse group of panellists – former independent member of parliament, Cathy McGowan crowned the “godmother” of the independent movement, economists Gigi Foster, Labour MP Josh Burns, Liberal senator James Paterson and political editor Peter Hartcher. 

It was both an exciting and interesting experience walking onto the set and seeing the numerous cameras in all corners of the room. Although our questions were not picked, it was interesting listening to the various panellists share their thoughts on the future political climate of Australia as the election drew closer. I thoroughly enjoyed enriching my understanding of Australian and Global political affairs whilst gaining an insight into the fascinating world of the media and how it operates. I would like to thank our Global Politics teacher, Ms Nikolovska for providing us with the opportunity to attend such an exciting event!
