As mentioned in the previous newsletter, there have been some outstanding sporting performances by our Year 6 students.
YEAR 5 AND 6 GIRLS SOCCER - DIVISIONAL FINALS
On Monday 25th July, the Girls Soccer team played in the Divisional finals. Their first game was against St Johns Primary School. In wet conditions, the girls won 5 – 2. They played their second game against Seaford Primary school. The girls were dominant for the majority of the game, winning 1 – 0. What’s more impressive is the fact that only two of the girls play soccer. The team has improved significantly over the last two months.
The team will also be competing in the Regional competition on Monday 22nd August.
A big thank you to the parents who attended and supported our students. A special mention to Mandy Charles and Kellie Burridge, who transported some of the students.
Congratulations and good luck to the following students:
5/9 - Cali Mc
6/5 - Lexi B, Sunni C, Ali C, Tahlia P, Victoria M
6/6 - Ava J, Hayley K
6/7 - Olivia B, Bridie C
6/8 - Indi W, Izabella N
YEAR 5 AND 6 GIRLS FOOTBALL - REGIONAL FINALS
After winning the District competition at the end of last term, the girls went straight through to the Regional finals which was held at Bonbeach Reserve on Tuesday.
It was a 'full on' day for the girls, 5 games in total, of which,4 games were back to back, with no break. They all played to the best of their ability and were completely exhausted by the end. They won their first two games against Hillsmeade and Elsternwick, 8 - 0 and 14 - 8 respectively. Their third game, against a skilled and very physical Beaumauris North was a loss, 6 - 25. The girls were evenly matched against Mt Martha, with the game finishing in a draw 8 - 8. By their last game, the girls were 'running out of legs' and although competitive, Chairo beat them 7 - 14. Beaumaris placed 1st, Mt Martha 2nd and our wonderful girls 3rd.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the day, thanks to the amazing coaching and support from Jarod Burridge (Olivia's dad) and Ashton H, Jordan D and Cooper W (Year 6 boys).
Of course, the girls also had wonderful support from Ms Milne (Manager) and the parents. Special thank you to Jodie Madigan, Mandy Charles, Renae Caulkett and Jarod Burridge for assisting with the transport of some of the girls.
Congratulations and well done:
5/9 - Lexi D
5/10 - Summer S, Layla B
6/5 - Lexi B, Sunni C, Ali C, Tahlia P, Victoria M, Kyla C, Emma C, Chelsea H
6/6 - Madison A, Mataiya P
6/7 - Olivia B, Bridie C, Jaida H, Chloe M
6/8 - Zoe S, Jayde B
YEAR 6 BOYS FOOTBALL - REGIONAL FINALS
After winning the Divisional finals early this term, the boys progressed through to the Regional finals. Like the girls, this was played at Bonbeach Reserve on Wednesday.
With 8 schools participating, the schools were divided into two pools. Each school played 3 games against the schools in their pool, with the winning teams from each pool progressing through to the Grand Final.
In their first two games, the boys easily accounted for St Michaels (35 - 1) and Rosewood Downs (56 - 0). With the boys having a bye the first round, coaches Brad McNeilage and Aaron Kelly were able to watch the other teams in the pool. It was evident that Beaumauris North were going to be their toughest opposition and it certainly proved to be. The boys played a great game and fell short by a mere 4 points (28 - 24).
Beaumauris North easily accounted for Beaconhills in the Grand Final.
The team has played magnificently throughout the District, Division and Regional games and came so close to progressing through to the State finals.
Of course these results would not have been possible without the support of Ms Moss (who coached the boys in the District competition), Brad and Aaron who coached them in the Divisional and Regional finals, the parents who transported and supported the boys and Ms Moss and Ms O'Neill (Team Managers).
Special thank you to Erin Harrison, Brad McNeilage, Emily Coller, Chantelle Nipper, Erin Murphy and Emily Humphries for transporting some of the boys.
Congratulations and well done:
6/5 - Tommy O, Jordan D, Nate L, Jacob S, Connor N
6/6 - Max K, Hugh McN, Tom N, Travis B, Cooper D-A, Bodhi M
6/7 - Ashton H, Rily M, Cooper W, Jack D, Miles S, Oscar S, Bailey S, Hudson C
6/8 - Rhys W, Mason K, Harlan M
