Boarding

Op Shop night

Last Thursday night, the boarding committee held an Op shop themed dinner. This, however, was not just any ordinarily themed dinner. Instead of dressing ourselves, we had a partner choose our outfit for us, all bought from the op shop. This was a great, fun way to support our local Vinnies and get boarders involved. Due to the split dinners from covid, there was two separate seatings and two different winners for the afternoon. For years 7 to 9, Charlie Ingham came in dressed as a minion, securing himself a box of favourites. The stakes then rose for years 10 to 12, with tight competition, making it difficult for to select a winner. It was clear, though, that Dominic Wong had the crowd’s vote, dressed in a short dress, scarf, and topped off with an elegant pair of heels. It was an entertaining night for all and will no doubt be one of the many themed dinners still to come.

A warm welcome to our GAP student, Zahria van Kierk. Zahria is from South Africa, near Cape Town and will be with us for semester two. Zahria is staying onsite at the Boarding House and assisting boarders and boarding staff. Senior students will see Zahria at school every second week, whilst on each alternative week Zahria will be assisting at the Junior School. With her passion for sport, in particular swimming and netball, we have already had Zahria taking the lead on sport competition days. Congratulations Zahria on your wonderful start to an exciting GAP year with the College, and we look forward to seeing you enjoy your time with us.

Casual boarding

Have you ever considered casual boarding? With our after-school programs in full swing and our day school students taking these opportunities with determination our boarding houses can offer a comfortable place for an evening or two. When a casual boarder finishes their after-school commitment they can be picked up by our driver and brought back to the Boarding House. Here they enjoy dinner, academic assistance, super supper (on a Wednesday), a warm and comfortable bed for the night with breakfast and lunch the following day. Casual boarding is becoming a popular choice for families and their children of all ages, and I encourage any family to consider this option for their son or daughter.

If you would like to trial boarding, experience the benefits of casual boarding or simply enquire about boarding in general please do not hesitate in contacting Susie Holcombe or myself.

Best wishes,

Andrew
