Maths Intensive Partnership

As we continue our Mathematics Intensive Partnership with MACS, staff have been working with our Regional Leadership Consultants. We have been exploring a range of addition and subtraction mental strategies and how they support our students in developing number sense. We have engaged in a process to develop a sequential, whole school, mental strategy developmental continuum for addition and subtraction.

Here are a couple of enjoyable games that have been used in our learning spaces to engage our students and generate mathematical discussions.

Why is mental computation important?

The development of mental computation strategies is a prerequisite to students completing formal algorithms.
