Faith and Wellbeing Assistant Principal's Report

Partnership

Earlier this week a letter was issued to Year 7 and 8 Families stressing the importance of working in partnership for the best outcomes for our students. I encourage all Year 7 and 8 Parents/Guardians to read this letter and to discuss the guidelines given with your children to ensure we are all working together.  In particular in the area of Social Media and the Internet  we all need support and I think some family discussion would be very healthy.

St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal Mass for Social Justice

Part of our Catholic faith is a call to love all people and, in a special way, support those in need. One of the ways we live this aspect of our faith out as a community is through our very active St Vincent de Paul College Conference.  Each year at this time the College's St Vincent de Paul Conference has a drive to collect food items, clothes and toiletries for people who lack many of the things we can sometimes take for granted.  All students are encouraged to support the appeal from St Vincent de Paul and we encourage conversation about it at home also.

The gifts are presented to St Vincent de Paul Representative during our Whole School Mass for Social Justice on Thursday, 6 June 2019 at 12.00 pm in the Wheeler Auditorium. This Mass is open to all members of our community and we would love to have some parents and families join us.

Thursday Morning Mass 8.10 am in the Chapel

A reminder that there is Mass every Thursday morning in the Chapel. All members of our community and their families are most welcome to attend.

Class Masses

As a part of the RE curriculum all classes have a Class Mass during a RE period. This term the Year 7 and 8 students are having a Mass in their classes. The Mass is a rich part of our Catholic Tradition and it is a blessing for us to be able to share it.  We are most grateful for the generosity of the priests who come and enable us to be able to share in the Holy Sacrifice.

Student Wellbeing

A reminder that we have Pastoral Teachers, Heads of House and our Directors of Wellbeing as staff who are  entrusted in a particular way with a Pastoral Role of supporting our students. At Mass on Sunday we heard the Gospel of the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd knows His sheep and cares for them. The Pastoral Teachers, Heads of House and Directors of Wellbeing are part of a structure we put into place to ensure we are living out the call of the Good Shepherd and looking after, protecting and knowing in a real and tangible way all of the sheep entrusted to us.  It is a privilege and blessing for us to be able to do this.
