Principal's Report

Nazareth Board

I am writing to officially invite any Parent / Guardian who feels that he or she can make a contribution to the College by becoming involved as a member of the College Board.

Our College Board is a body which is responsible for the management of the College according to the Constitution of the College.

The membership of the College Board is made up of:

  1. The Parish Priests of our four Member Parishes, or delegates from the Parish of:
  • St Elizabeth’s
  • St Justin’s
  • St Gerard’s
  • St Simon’s
  1. The Principal – Executive Officer;
  2. The Honorary Accountant other than the Business Manager, who is also Chair of the Finance Committee;
  3. A Board Chair, either elected or co-opted by the Board;
  4. The elected Deputy Chair of the Board;
  5. The Deputy Principal of Nazareth College;
  6. The President of NCCA or a representative (nominated by the NCCA);
  7. The Business Manager;
  8. Minute Secretary – this is the EA to the Principal;
  9. Co-opted members, with specialised expertise approved by the majority of the Board for a nominated tenure.

These positions were all declared vacant at our recent general meeting.  In doing so, I have invited existing members to nominate themselves if they would like to continue, as well as ask for additional nominations from our College Community.  In the event that there are two or more applicants for the one position, this will then go to the broader Community for their consideration through a vote.

Consequently, this process will take some time and, until it has come to fruition, the existing Board members will continue to hold their positions.

Again, if there are people who have expertise, or would like to assist the school by becoming Board members, please contact the EA to the Principal, Mrs Barbara Hluchanic on (03) 9790 8120 or via email on  hlucb@nazareth.vic.edu.au labelling the Subject as:  POTENTIAL BOARD MEMBER.  Nominations close on Friday 31 May 2019.

Congratulations to five Nazareth students who have been selected to represent the SIS (Southern Independent Schools) at the All Schools Swimming Competition.  This selection is a prestigious acknowledgement of their outstanding ability and ranking in their sport.

Well done and congratulations on behalf of all the Nazareth Community.

New Building Program

The College has decided to embark on a new Building Program that will see a brand new Science wing, upgrade to student toilets and installation of a new lift in the Wheeler Auditorium – in order for the College to be fully compliant and accessible to all.

This will be Stage 1 of some major works that the College hopes to complete in the coming years.  Other works will include a new Multimedia area, a STEM area and new Hospitality and Food venue, with further alterations to the VisCom room and Arts and Textiles areas.

This is really an exciting time for the College to further improve its learning facilities for our students.  I look forward to showcasing the plans and models of our proposed new areas in the coming months.
