Year 12

All Year 12 students had an opportunity to visit the VCE and Careers Expo at the Caulfield Racecourse on Friday 3 May this year. This was a great opportunity for students to seek out and speak with a variety of Universities, TAFEs and private providers. There was also information on taking a gap year, studying abroad and volunteering programs. There were many seminars available to assist them with study skills, preparing for exams and subject information.

Students were able to return to the Expo over the weekend if they wished. This type of preparation is imperative to aiding their decision making for next term when they will be considering and applying for what it is they hope to do next year.

I look forward to working with each Year 12 student on this process next term.  I also encourage parents to be a part of this process if they wish.  I can be contacted on 97908177.

Year 9 and 10

Last week 19 selected students from Years 9 and 10 went to Monash University for their induction into the Monash Champions programme.

There were guest speakers talking about leadership and how they have made a difference in our community and there were also many hands-on workshops where the students had to work together as a team to problem solve and share ideas. As usual, our students made us proud displaying excellent team building skills, humour and passion. They got to meet the four Monash mentors that will be working with them here at the College once a week during Terms 2 and 3. They were so impressed with our students, as was I!

Our Champions have committed to this programme and are now enthused to start their projects where they will be 'making a difference to our community'.

I can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Year 10 Work Experience

Work Experience is just around the corner and we are gearing up to undertake the Occupational Health and Safety requirements in preparation to start. This is a legal requirement that students need to learn before they can step into any workplace.  More information about this will follow in the next newsletter.
