Reflection

At the heart of the Christian Faith is the belief that Jesus rose body and soul from the dead. When we listen to the Acts of the Apostles we hear very clearly the proclamation that Jesus has risen from the dead. As Christians we are called like the apostles to be witnesses to this truth that Jesus rose from the dead. The disciples saw Jesus risen from the dead in a number of different circumstances, near the tomb, on the road to Emmaus, by the lake and in the upper room. If we have the eyes of faith we can also see the Risen Jesus present in our lives. In the people we meet each day the challenging circumstances we often face, the comfort of a friend when we are in need, in the silence of our heart in prayer, or in the very presence of the Eucharist, we can see, touch and experience the Risen Jesus. We can meet Him, love Him, serve Him, be touched by Him and also minister Him to others each and every day.
As we continue in this season of joy, we ask the Holy Spirit to help us to be more aware of the presence of Our Risen Lord in our daily life and to also be a sign in the world of God’s abundant love for all people and the truth that Jesus is alive. He is truly Risen and may all that is dead in our hearts be given new life and new love and may our hearts be ignited to touch other hearts and set them ablaze also. He is truly risen and may this truth be reflected in our daily lives.
