RSA Course

We recently had a large number of Year 11 and Year 12 students who expressed their interest in attending a training session to complete their Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate at the school. The RSA certificate is a mandatory certification required by anyone wishing to work within the hospitality or retail industry where alcohol is sold or served. By students completing this course, they have increased their future options and chances of employment once they turn 18. All the students really enjoyed taking part in this course and it will hopefully benefit them both now and in the future.

Work Experience

I have recently met with all of the Year 9 students to encourage them to begin searching and applying for Work Experience opportunities for Year 10 in 2020. Quite a few of the popular Work Experience programs are starting to open registrations already, so students need to be quick as to not miss out on these great programs. For any Year 9 students who didn’t receive the information I handed out and emailed around, please feel free to come and see me in the Senior School Office.

University Information

During ‘Change of Preference Period’ most Universities hold expos, one-on-one appointments or have hotlines set up to assist students with discussions about courses and pathways. I have sent around an email to all Year 12 students with details of these University events. this information can also be accessed on individual University websites.

I want to give a final reminder to all Year 12 students who have recently finished school, to take note of all of the  important ATAR and VTAC dates below. These dates detail when ATAR and VCE results will be available, as well as when VTAC offers will be released.

We have recently created a new link from our GEC Website to the Glen Eira College Careers Website. I encourage both parents and students to visit this site in order to gain further information about post school opportunities, VTAC, as well as useful links for parents to help their students with career planning and career conversations.

Students are even able to create an account within the ‘Student Secure Area’ where they can create Career Action Plans, conduct Career Personality and Interest Tests, as well as get assistance in creating a resumes and cover letters.

Please follow the below link in order to access the Glen Eira College Careers page, or you can access it through the GEC website by selecting ‘Careers and Pathways’ under the ‘Teaching and Learning’ tab.
