Health & PE News
Last week was a big week in the Health and PE team. It was time for students to showcase what they had been working on over the course of Term 4.
First up on Wednesday was the Year 9 Gymnastic Presentations. This term the students refined their somersault skills, backwards rolls, handstands and cartwheels, which was a new challenge for many of the students. They were gaining confidence in their new movement patterns through practise practise practise! It was an extremely rewarding process for the staff as they see the students develop new skills and then perform proficiently in front of the cohort. The performances were very entertaining and well constructed and the Year 9s should be very proud of themselves and the way they celebrated their final junior PE assessment. WELL DONE YEAR 9s!
After the Year 9s, all focus turned to the Year 7s who were all eagerly awaiting their Rhythmic and Expressive Movement Performances. This truly was a celebration above all else. This cohort were unparalleled in their support for one another. It was hard not to enjoy your time in the PAC with some classic song choices such as ‘Hey Macarena’, ‘YMCA’ and ABBA’S ‘Mamma Mia’. Mr Mulligan’s MC ability was a highlight, along with Poppy Dry’s amazing, acrobatic aerial skills. It was amazing to see how creative a group can be with the same brief in the variety in performances that occurred. Everyone gave 100% regardless of perceived ability and it was amazing to see everyone enjoying the moment and celebrating their first year of high school at Glen Eira College with their peers. Even the staff wanted to get in on the support performing their own (not copied at all) choreography.
Once again, a huge congratulations to both year levels on their performances, I hope you all had a memorable day.
