Year 11 Biology

The Year 11 Biology course now requires students to undertake a 15-hour Depth Study.  This year the Year 11 students embarked on a Field trip. We visited the Murrumbidgee National Park Nature Reserve at Darlington Point where the students surveyed the River Red Gum population of the area. They utilised the survey skills, such as quadrats and transect learnt in class to gather this data. Whilst we were there we learnt many interesting facts about the area from the National Parks Rangers and The Office of Environment and Change.

On our second day of field work we travelled to Fivebough Wetlands in Leeton where we surveyed the water chemistry of the area. The students then sampled the area for macroinvertebrates. This data was used to identify the relationship between abiotic factors and the distribution and abundance of the aquatic invertebrates they caught.
