ACCESS MONASH PROGRAM

This year Genevieve and I decided to take part in the Year 10 Access Monash Program. The program aims to improve students’ leadership skills by asking them to create a project which can improve their communities. As part of the program, we went to Caulfield Racecourse to take part in workshops that would prepare us for our projects. At the beginning of the project, we met with our mentors fortnightly but gradually increased to weekly meetings, during which we produced two ideas for our community project. We were willing to choose either, depending on the outcome of our fundraiser. Over the last school holidays we attended an Access Monash Camp, held in Clayton. During which we attended leadership seminars with our mentors and other students, we also utilized this camp to prepare for our upcoming fundraiser. We held our fundraiser on the 20th of July. It was a pizza day that generated over $200 in profit. We are now in the process of, hopefully, refurbishing some of the drink taps around the school, ready to use for summer.
