Boarding House

Tennis lessons

This term I have engaged a local tennis coach to come to the Boarding House each Wednesday evening and offer private lessons to our boarders. Reece is a qualified coach who spends significant time improving the skills of our current student cohort. Having Reece come to the Boarding House is a real bonus as boarders can simply leave their room or prep for 30mins have a lesson and then go back to the House, making for an efficient use of their time. Reece charges $30 for 30mins and lessons can be taken as an individual or a pair. Please let me know if you would like to take up this opportunity in the future.

Wimmera and Lucindale Field Days

This week I attended the Wimmera Field Days in Horsham with our Registrar, Susie Holcombe and Director of Community Relations, Alana Brown. Not only do we attend the three days of the Field Days offering opportunity for prospective families to see and hear what we offer, but we also host a dinner for existing boarding families. On Monday evening we enjoyed a meal with families at the Horsham Sports and Community Club. Sitting down and spending time with our parents is so valuable. Sharing the finer details of boarding, hearing about some suggestions, and getting to know more about home life for our boarders is time that is never wasted. Thank you to all families who attended. I look forward to meeting our South East South Australia families next week for our Katnook drinks before the Lucindale Field Days, where we will be located in the Yakka Pavilion.

Football training

This week we were fortunate to have two coaches run a football training session for all interested boarders. The training was born from an idea two of our fathers had earlier in the year. Todd O’Sullivan and Richard Heazlewood, who both coach Caramut Football Club, offered to take a general training session at the Boarding House. It was an outstanding success with 19 boarders, and plenty of onlookers, taking part. The session gave the boarders opportunity to learn new drills and then put these into action during the week. What a great opportunity for our footy loving boarders; you are never short of a buddy to have kick to kick with and continually get a little more practice in. All the best to our boarding footballers in the season ahead, and a huge THANK YOU! to Todd and Rich.
