St Patrick's Day Mass

Some of our School Leaders represented our school today at the St Patrick's Day Mass at the Cathedral for Catholic Education Week in the city. Looks like they found some interesting characters too!

Holy Thursday

To celebrate the last day of term, students can wear something Easterish on Holy Thursday. There might even be a treat at morning tea for them if we can convince the Easter Bunny to sneak out a bit early!

NAPLAN

Please note that Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN tests have started and will be continuing next week.

Parents are able to visit the NAPLAN Online Public Demonstration Site  to see the types of questions and related functionalities in the NAPLAN Online assessment.

New School website

It's finally up and running! While we still have a few things to tweak, it looks great!

Easter Liturgy

Grade 5/6s will be creating and leading an Easter Liturgy on Wednesday 5th April. More details will come out on Operoo closer to the date.

Lent and Reconciliation

As Reconciliation fast approaches the following is a nice reminder to us what it is all about.

'It was on Easter Sunday evening that Jesus appeared to his Apostles, gathered together in the Upper Room, where they had eaten the Last Supper. As they gaped and shrank back in a mixture of fear and dawning hope, Jesus spoke to them reassuringly.'

John (20:19-23):

Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, 'Peace be with you!' And when he said this he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced at the sight of the Lord. He said to them again, 'Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.' When he had said this, he breathed upon them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit; whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.'

For our children, we should consider what this means for them in our modern times. What Jesus was trying to tell us was this:

As God, Jesus had the power to forgive sin. Jesus now trusts us to use that power. We are his representatives. Whatever sins we forgive, Jesus shall forgive. Whatever sins we do not forgive, Jesus shall not forgive.

Therefore, there is a big responsibility on us to be forgiving so that we can bring others into communion with god and his love. Forgiveness is a spiritual medicine that strengthens as well as heals.

Loving Jesus,

through the power of your love, you have given us the courage, wisdom and strength to share our gifts and talents in humility. In peace and understanding, we reconcile with each other. Creator Spirit, we come together in prayer and thanksgiving for the many blessings we have received.

Amen
