Thursday Activities at Carlsruhe, Read all about it!

It sure has been a busy time at Carlsruhe this Term. The year Four students have settled into the routine quickly and confidently, taking on many different responsibilities and working extremely well as a team. Our Thursday activities have begun and the students are thoroughly enjoying the different experiences. Thank you to all of the Parents who have volunteered to help run these activities.

The following students chose to write about their experiences:

It was the first day of Thursday Activities and I was so excited to see what I would be doing!

I was going to look through a microscope and sketch what I saw.

The other activities were cooking, weaving friendship bracelets, graphing, using nibs and ink for calligraphy writing and finally gardening.

In cooking they made soft and sweet rhubarb muffins (they were delicious). In weaving all the colour combinations were like a rainbow of colours.

Everyone's writing was really amazing with nibs. It was really interesting to watch the graphing and the gardeners. They did a very rewarding job!  We had a fantastic time!

On Thursday we did activities, not just any activities, they were the funniest activities ever. Let me tell you about them!

There were multiple activities and parents come to help out. There were six activities and we will rotate each week. We were put into groups and the two classes got mixed up.

When you are not out at Carlsruhe you don't do the activities. When you come back, you will be in a different group. These are the groups:

I was in the cooking group. We made rhubarb muffins. We mixed a whole bunch of ingredients, like rhubarb from the veggie garden and mixed in sugar, salt, milk, oil, and more. Then we needed to line the trays with patty pans and pour the mixture into the trays. We put them in the oven.

On Friday, we got to have them! We each got one - it was chefs first! That was good! There wasn't enough for us to have another full one, but the teachers cut them in half so we could have half an extra muffin. They were delicious.

Today when we did Thursday activities, I did cooking and we made rhubarb muffins. It was really fun! First, we went on a scavenger hunt in the garden with scissors looking for rhubarb. Once we found the rhubarb, we cut off the leaves and got 3 stems each. Then we went back to the kitchen to cut up the rhubarb. That was my favourite part. We made the muffin mixture and mixed the rhubarb into the mixture. After that we put them in the tins and then put them into the oven to cook. It was so much fun, I can’t wait to eat them on Friday.  By Taylor
