Senior Unit - 5/6

Hello Wonderful 5/6 Families and Carers,

We have arrived at Week 7 and can’t believe this term has flown by so fast! Luckily the sun is still shining and it doesn’t feel quite like Autumn yet.

It was pleasing to see so many Year 6 students apply to be Wellbeing and Environmental Leaders. They were required to respond to Success Criteria and submit a written application. The detail that went into these applications was amazing and we’re very proud of the responses. Results coming soon!

Canberra Camp

Students are very excited for Canberra Camp coming up in Term 2. They have been learning about the different systems of government and the 3 levels of government.

“I’m excited to see the Parliament House and hang out with my friends. The grade 5’s are also really excited because they’re coming too.” - Audrey SU4

“I’m excited to go to Canberra with a big group of my friends. I’m also excited to learn a bit more about the government as I don’t know much about it.” - Jack G SU4

“I’m very excited to go to parliament house and learn about government things because I find it very intriguing. I’m looking forward to the cabins and to see what they’re like.” - Ava SU3

“I’m very excited because in my family I’m the first one to go to Canberra. I love learning about the government and Parliament House and the history behind it.” - Izzy SU3

Just a friendly reminder to make sure you’ve consented and paid a deposit for Canberra Camp through compass.

Cross Country

Last Wednesday the students participated in Cross Country near Gilbert Gordon oval. The students all tried their very best and some students beat their position from last year.

I thought cross country went very well. Because at the start l was jogging and then I got faster. I got so fast that l had a bit of asthma. I got very very tired really fast but it was worth it and l got to hi-five some teachers. - Jayden, SU4

I thought cross country went well because I got to chat with friends while I ran. I got cheered on by my friends when I finished. We had to do three laps but it was quite fun because we got to hi-five of the teachers as we went past. - Bryce, SU4

Buddies

Students have also been working closely with their buddies. Some buddy classes have been completing Autumn activities, literacy activities and developmental play. The Year 6’s loved playing dress-ups with their Foundation buddies (probably more than they did).

I thought the buddies went well because. We got to play games and we got to dress up with them. My buddy and I read some books about his favourite superhero books. - Jayden, SU4

I think having buddies is really cool because we get to dress up and help them with crafting. With my buddy we built a really big marble run together. We also did it with my friend who was helping us. - Bryce, SU4
