Social and Emotional Learning

Students in Years 4-6 have been learning and understanding the differences about worry, stress and anxiety. With these struggles that we can experience, students have their own coping strategies that they use to de-escalate and make them feel more present in the current situation or environment.

Coping strategies are the tools we use to manage tough emotions and cope with worry and stress. How we handle emotions is not a skill we are born with and we are probably expected to know but coping strategies need to be taught and practised regularly.

Coping Strategies gives others the inner strength to put one foot in front of the other when you feel like giving up. Different coping strategies work for different people. Have a chat with your family around the dinner table about what coping strategies everyone uses. Here is just a few to help get you started.
